A gas interlocking system links your gas supply to your ventilation system. It is a legal requirement under BS6173 in all commercial kitchens. When ventilation fails, the interlock cuts the gas supply — preventing CO build-up and the risk of explosion. Operating without a correctly installed and certified system can invalidate your insurance and risk EHO closure.
Castle Catering Engineers installs gas interlocking systems across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands. All work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers (Licence 597490) with a CP42 Commercial Gas Safety Certificate and 3-year guarantee on every installation.

Every gas kitchen we install includes a gas interlocking system — a legal requirement under BS6173. Our own Merlin CT1250 control panel is fitted on every gas kitchen we install.

The Merlin panel links the extraction and supply fans directly to the gas supply. If ventilation drops below the required rate, the system automatically isolates the gas — keeping the kitchen safe and compliant at all times.
We supply, install, commission and service the full Merlin range from S&S Northern — from single-fan kitchens through to multi-fan installations with CO, CO₂ and temperature monitoring. Every installation is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers (Licence 597490) and CP42 certified on completion.

The entry-level panel in the Merlin range and the one we fit as standard on most gas kitchens. It links the supply and extract fans to the gas supply and isolates the gas automatically if ventilation fails.

A step up from the CT1250, adding CO₂ monitoring and dual-fan supervision. Suited to larger kitchens, or any site where air quality needs monitoring alongside the interlock.

A full kitchen safety system rather than an interlock alone. Alongside gas control it takes inputs from CO, CO₂ and temperature sensors and the fire panel, and includes built-in speed control for two fans.

The largest panel in the range, built for multi-fan installations. It supervises banks of supply and extract fans together and adds automatic self-testing.

A wall-mounted gas detector that works alongside the interlock panel. Simple LED indication of low and high gas levels, with a warning when the sensor reaches the end of its service life.

The digital version of the Detector i, with a live ppm readout on a colour display. Gives a pre-alarm before the full alarm stage and provides a 0–10V output for building management systems.

A CO₂ monitor with a full display showing current and average CO₂ levels alongside room temperature. Commonly specified where ventilation performance needs to be demonstrated as well as controlled.
